It seems everyday i get questions about the Npc and Ifbb Wellness division. 

Whats the criteria? What are the judges looking for? What is the division about overall?

Let's break it down with some of the most common questions i get asked!

What is the Wellness division?

The Wellness Division is the newest addition to the Npc and Ifbb Women's divisions. It is made for women that have more lower body dominant muscles. In the wellness division you will see very developed quads, hamstrings and glutes so much so to a degree that it is asymmetrical with the upper body. 

Npc and Ifbb Wellness athletes will still display upper body muscular development however not to the degree it matches the lower body. The Npc and Ifbb Wellness division is the only asymmetrical women's division in the Npc And Ifbb.

Is the Wellness Division the same as the Bikini division?

No.

While there are similarities between these 2 divisions, they are entirely unique in criteria. 

Bikini competitors must display a well balanced and symmetrical hour glass shape. In Bikini the lower body should match the upper in terms of balance and development. 

In the Wellness division athletes will display a much more developed lower body and thus will be unbalanced comparatively. The posing in the Wellness division is also different than posing in bikini division.

How Lean do Wellness Competitors Need to Be?

The level of conditioning in the wellness division is on par with current bikini condition. This means the Wellness division should be a soft level of conditioning. Athletes need to be lean enough to not carry excessive body fat but they should not get so lean that they show striations or deep muscle cuts of any kind.

What are the judges looking for in the Npc and Ifbb Wellness Division?

Judges are looking for athletes that exemplify an exaggerated development of the lower body. 

​

Upper body - the upper body in Wellness is well Rounded shoulders, width to the top, arm development to match shoulders and lats that sweep into a tapered waist. 

​

Lower body - the lower body in Wellness is Well developed and rounded glutes that show slight separation between hamstrings. Well developed hamstrings and quads as well that sweep in front and back pose.

​

Midsection- the mid section in wellness does not have to show 6 pack abs. But should be at proper condition. For most this is a flat stomach. Abs that are over done and shredded may cause down scoring.
